Training of Newly Elected Women Panchayat Representatives
One day training for newly elected women panchayat representatives was held at the Training Centre on 7 November 2016. Three kshettra panchayat representatives, 30 panchayat members and six social workers participated in the training.
The warm up included introduction of participants and awakening song. After this objectives of the workshops were introduced to the participants. They were told that they would be given information about their rights and duties in the panchayats and discussion will be held on government developmental schemes and laws. This was followed by introduction of Disha Social Organization to the participants.
Topics covered in the workshop included: objectives of the workshop, salient features of panchayati raj laws, gram sabha and its meetings, constitution of gram panchayat as per population, process of gram panchayat meeting, meeting minutes, no-confidence motion to remove gram pradhan, reasons of removal, etc.
There were six committees of the gram panchayats: Planning and development committee, education committee, administrative committee, construction committee, water management committee and health and welfare committee. As many as 29 tasks have been earmarked for gram panchayats.
Detailed information about major provisions of Food Security Act 2013 and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act was also given. These are flagship provisions of the Central Government for the welfare of rural populace.
In the end, the participants were exhorted to essentially participate in gram sabha and gram panchayat training. They should put forth their views and raise problems and issues so your participation can be ensured.
