Workshop with Police on Violence against Women and Women Equality
One day workshop on violence against women and women equality was organised with the police personnel at Barthakayasth Police Outpost on January 25, 2018. A total of 25 people participated in the workshop.
After introduction, programme coordinator P Ram gave information about Disha Social Organization. Resource person Rehana Adib gave information about violence against women. She said violence against women was endemic in each family and apart from physical violence mental violence also took place with women. She said that the police had important role to play in preventing violence against women.
The sub-inspector of the police outpost Nagendra Ujjawal said that violence against women was occurring because of patriarchal society. He assured that anyone can avail of police assistance by just making a call to the police numbers 100 and 1090. Constable Mohit Kumar said that violence against women should end. He blamed habit of consuming toxicants, including liquor, for violence against women.
Legal aid programme in-charge Suresho Saini, coordinator Shahin Parveen and Aaroh convenor Tasneem also spoke on the occasion. In the end, outpost in-charge Nagendra Ujjawal thanked Disha workers. He said that the issue of the workshop was very good and we all have to work together on this.
