The 30th annual sammelan of Mahila Mazdoor Evam Laghu Kisan Morcha was held on March 27, 2018, at Peeth Ka Maidan (market place) of Sultanpur Chilkana. Over 7,000 people including morcha members, office-bearers, renowned people, NGO representatives, panchayat and political leaders, media personnel, etc., participated.
To successfully conduct the programme, a committee of people was formed. The celebrations began with loud slogan raising by the participants. Disha founder KN Tiwari gave history of the celebration. He said that the morcha gave a voice to the poor labourers and women, because of which women have progressed forward in our area in many fields.
The chief guest of the programme Jainath Sharma, a senior social worker, welcomed and thanked women and said that this congregation was symbol of the power of women. It has always helped Dalit and poor. He said that this organisation is helpful in forming groups of women and linking them with employment through micro credit. He also said that we all should stay united and raise voice against illiteracy, unemployment and hunger. He motivated women to continuously struggle to achieve their rights
Towards the end of the programme Tasneem read out a 19-point charter of demands addressed to the Chief Minister. All the women present raised their hands in support. The charter of demands raised issues like rising price, corruption, 33 per cent reservation to women in parliament, legislatures and government jobs, making women co-owners of land and according them status of farmer, implementation of domestic violence act, forest rights law, food security law, etc.
