Training of SHG Leaders on Federation
A two-day training of SHG leaders on Federation was organised at Disha Training Centre on November 14 and 15, 2017. Thirty five people participated in the training.
Disha Director KN Tiwari welcomed the participants and shared with them Disha’s struggle and work to meet its vision and mission. He shared that the organisation started SHG formation in 1993 for socio-economic empowerment of poor and backward communities, especially women.
Programme coordinator P Ram said that for strengthening SHGs it was important to organise regular meetings, documentation, loan repayment and awareness of other social issues. She shared information about rating and grading of SHGs and MIS. She discussed with the participants the roles and responsibilities of office bearers like president, secretary and cashier. Later a movie on federation was screened for participants and discussion was held on it.
Tasneem, programme coordinator, shared information about federation formation. He shared that federation could play an important role in economic empowerment. An SHG Federation has seven to SHGs. A federation has two members from each SHG. An executive committee of five members from amongst the co-opted members will be formed. Federation charges three type fees from each SHG: One time registration fee for one time, annual renewal fee per year and monthly saving.
