International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated at several places in the operational area.

The first celebration took place at the police station Chilkana compound on March 6, 2018. This was a joint celebration of Chilkana police station and Disha Social Organization. Nearly 40 police personnel, journalists and Disha workers participated. The in-charge of the police station Neeraj Singh addressed the particiapnts and said that International Women’s Day was very important for women because on this day women had got victory in struggle for their rights. All the participants raised pro-women slogans.

The second celebration was in Saharanpur city on March 9, 2018. On this occasion a workshop and a rally were organised. Nearly 700 women from villages participated in the programme. The women expressed their thoughts on women equality and rights. Disha founder KN Tiwari gave detailed information to the participants on the history and significance of International Women’s Day.

The third celebration was at Panchayat Hall of Dhaki village in Sahaspur block of Dehradun district on March 8, 2018. The programme was organised with the help of all residents of Dhaki village. Around 150-200 women participated in the celebration.
