Women Farmers’ Padyatra under Aaroh Campaign
A women farmers’ padyatra was taken out at Mandora village in Sarsawa block of Saharanpur district under the Aaroh campaign on August 27, 2019. Hundreds of women farmers and men participated in the padyatra. The padyatra was flagged off by Disha’s director KN Tiwari by showing green flag.
Before the start of the padyatra a meeting was organised in the village on the rights of women farmers. The meeting was chaired by Mandora gram pradhan Suresho.
In his address Disha director he said women should be aware of their rights. He said women did 80 per cent agricultural works, but the society did not impart them the status of farmer. He laid emphasis on giving co-owner status to women. Apart from this he also gave information related to education, sanitation and women rights.
Senior worker of the organisation Jahnavi Tiwari exhorted women to get associated with the campaign in maximum numbers. She said women had important contribution in agricultural works. She said women need to get maximum benefit of the training programmes being organised by the government departments.
Giving information about Aaroh campaign Disha worker Tasneem said that this programme was being implemented by Disha in 20 villages. This was first padyatra of five villages, started from Mandora village. After this the padyatras will be taken out in Chalakpur, Suchela Deva and Parsagarh and concluded at Patna village.
The programme was conducted by the programme coordinator P Ram. Over 20 workers from the organisation played an important role in the campaign.
