A Unity Congregation for human rights under One Billion Rising Campaign was organised on February 14, 2020, at Disha Training Centre under the auspices of Mahila Mazdoor Evam Laghu Kisan Morcha. Nearly 800 women, men and representatives of voluntary organisations participated in the event.

The chief guest of the programme, Ms Abha Bhaiya, National Convenor, One Billion Rising Campaign, New Delhi, thanked all the sisters and brothers on this occasion. She said the Constitution of our country treated followers of all religions equally. We have to live amicably with each other and must give fitting reply to those who wish to break this country. Followers of all the religions participated equally in freeing this country. There is danger to the safety of women and violence against them is increasingly continuously. Through this campaign we have to end violence against women and promote mutual brotherhood.

Disha Director, Mr KN Tiwari, said that this campaign was continuously raising voice against violence against women and girls. He said the country would progress only when women of the country were happy. Expressing concern over the present environment of the country, he said some people and their representatives were making efforts to break the country in the name of religion and country, which was a very big threat to the Constitution and the country. We have to oppose such oppressive laws which are not in our interest.

Ms Tasneem gave detailed information about the campaign. Resource person Ms Gita Gairola exhorted to raise voice against the divisive forces. Many other persons like also spoke on this occasion. Several staff members of Disha played important role in the programme.
