Workshop on Youth's Skill Development and Employment
A two-day workshop was organised by Disha with NIIT, under NIIT’s programme “Yuva Jyoti”, on July 16, 2013, and July 20, 2013. Thirty students from villages of Sarsawa and SadoliKadeemblocks of Saharanpur district participated. Mr KNTiwari, Director of Disha,while welcoming the participants, laid emphasis on the need of rural youths’ skill development. He underlined the need of coming up of rural youths to the level of urban youths so both have a level playing field in job market. Learning appropriate computer skills is one of such measures. Mr Anuj from NIIT Yuva Jyoti shared that since 30 years NIIT is providing its services of training in computers to five lakh youth every year in more than 40 countries and in more than 16,000 centres. Currently with the cooperation of NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation), NIIT is implementing its programme of developing more than 70 lakh rural youth by computer training and to place them in various sectors. He further shared that in the programme youth between 18-35 years are to be enrolled for training who further will be engaged in various corporate sector jobs, as BPO, retail, automobiles and accounts, etc.
