Legal Literacy Camp

legal literacy campA one-day Legal Literacy Camp was organised by Disha Social Organisation with support of Legal Services Authority at Disha Training Centre on May 30, 2015. Around 300 people participated in the camp. Mr Ajay Kumar, 3rd ACJM, was the chief guest of the programme.

The primary agenda of the camp as told by Mr KN Tiwari, Director, Disha Social Organisation, was to disseminate general information regarding various laws, to discuss case or problems if any of the participants and to create awareness about the ill effects of tobacco and smoking.

Women empowerment, rights of women, equality of women, domestic violence, dowry, insurance for farmers and accidental provision for labourers were some of the key topics that were discussed in the programme.

Awareness was created on various laws and facilities such as Section 125, Domestic Violence Act, Women Protection Act 2005, Women helpline 1090, Sections 154 (3) and 156 (3) and Farmer insurance programme. Participants were stressed upon to educate themselves about various laws so they could reap benefits of these laws.

Apart from this, the participants were informed about ill effects of consuming tobacco and smoking on occasion of Anti-tobacco day. They were told that consumption of tobacco and smoking could lead to life threatening diseases like cancer and tuberculosis.

The programme was visited by eminent guests such as Mr Ajay Kumar, 3rd ACJM, Mr Nitin Pandey, 3rd JM, Mr Indrasen Yadav, Tehsildar, Mr Sumit Pawar, Advocate, Mr Bhagwan Singh, Station Officer Chilkana, Dr Arjun Singh, MOIC, Ms Pawan Nagar,  Representative CO Sadar, Mr Rajkumar Gupta, Chief Functionary, District Legal Services Authority Saharanpur, Mr KN Tiwari,  Director Disha Social Organisation, Ms Atul Sharma, Social worker, Ms Rehana Adib, Astitva Organisation, Ms Shaheen Praveen, Pravaj Organisation and others.
