Adolescent Girls’ Fair on Independence Day

fair on independence day Disha Social Organisation held a fair for adolescent girls on Independence Day, August 15, 2015. Around 300 people participated in it.

The programme began with unfurling of National Flag by Disha Director KN Tiwari. After it the participants sang National Anthem, raised patriotic slogans and remembered our freedom fighters.

Addressing the participants KN Tiwari said that people from all religions participated in our struggle for freedom. Many young, old, children and sisters laid down their lives. He stressed that it was our responsibility to fulfil the dreams of our revolutionaries and that people of all religion should come forward in the development and happiness of the country.

Apart from it KN Tiwari also gave information on the adolescent Muslim girls education centres being run by Disha for the past two decades. These centres are run for girls who seldom get the chance to go to school. In it they are taught up to class 5 in a period of three years. Disha is running these centres in 10 villages and its teachers and students were present in this function.

Eminent guests like Omi Pawar, advocate, Ikram Qureshi, former chairman representative, Arun Kumar, convenor Morcha and Shaheen Praveen were present in the function. They congratulated the participants and expressed happiness on the participation of girls in such a high number.

On this occasion result cards were distributed to girls who had passed class 5 from the education centres and best wishes were given to girls who had taken admission in class 6 for further studies.

A display of the products produced by the girls was put and cultural programme like songs, ghazals, najm, kawwali, dance, etc., were presented by the students of the local adolescent girls education centre. The guests and the participants liked it.
