Participation in Farmers’ Fair and Exhibition
Sixty women farmers from the operational area of Disha Social Organization in Saharanpur participated in the Farmers’ Fair and Exhibition organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Saharanpur, on April 7, 2016. The programme was aimed at creation of awareness on crop insurance scheme being run for the benefit of farmers by the Government.
The programme was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Hukam Singh, chief guest of the programme. He said that crop insurance scheme was an important scheme for financial assistance of the farmers. He said if the crop was secure, farmers would tread on the path of self-reliance. He appealed the farmers to get benefit of the scheme in maximum numbers.
Dr Satya Prakash Sharma, Convenor of the Programme, thanked all the farmers. He said if the farmers were happy, the country too will be happy. He suggested the farmers to opt scientific methods of farming. He said that participation of women farmers in the programme was praiseworthy.
In his address, the Deputy Director Agriculture, said their endeavour was to make available new technology, seeds and implements to the farmers. He said that the farmers needed to get registered for getting benefit of government schemes. He also said that they have vowed to reach crop insurance scheme to the remotest villages.
On this occasion, Disha put up a stall in which produce of self-help groups were displayed. The agriculture officials gifted the women farmers with seeds and insecticides.
