Meeting of Like-minded Organisations

meeting of like minded organisationsOne day meeting of like-minded voluntary organisations was held at the Training Centre on April 9, 2016. In all there were 14 participants in the meeting aimed at linking like-minded voluntary organisations and individuals working on similar issues and forming their network.

The meeting began with motivational song tu jinda hai tu jindagi ki jeet par yakin kar agar kahin hai swarg to utar la jamin par (you are alive and you should believe on victory of life. If there is heaven anywhere, you should bring it down.) This was followed by the address of Disha Director KN Tiwari. In the address he highlighted principles of Disha and said that the organisation worked for poor, exploited, minorities and backward classes of the society.

Secretaries of the organisations Anchal, Astitiva and Pravaj organisations shared their experiences. While heading the organisations now, they once worked for long durations with Disha, they shared. The common point in their addresses was that they came from the community, got associated with Disha, learnt nuances of the sector and now they were using their expertise to work for the betterment of the society.

Two senior functionaries of Disha, Jahnavi Tiwari and Naseema, conducted the proceedings. They highlighted that the organisations present were working on violence against women and women livelihood. There was a need to exchange experiences so all the participating organisations can improve upon their works.

In the end, it transpired that the network shall meet every three months for experience sharing.
