Exposure Visit of Disha Workers to Jagori Rural

An exposure visit of Disha workers was conducted to Himachal Pradesh based Jagori Rural organisation from May 9, 2016 to May 12, 2016. The main objective of the visit was to get acquainted with the work of Jagori, learn from them, share their experiences and get refreshed.

The visit began with a meeting of Disha team with members of Jagori. Mr Anoop from Jagori introduced the participants to Jagori team. Then he and his team informed them about the history and programmes of Jagori. After this they informed them about the women courts being run by Jagori and also explained various aspects of the cases, documentation and the process of settlement. In this meeting the participants also met with the Mayor and heard her experiences. She had worked as an empowered women worker in Jagori.

Apart from this the participants were divided into two teams and were sent to different villages to see the programmes being run in schools. There the teams interacted with students also took part in the programmes.

Next day the participants went on sightseeing. They visited places like Dal Lake, Mcleod Ganj, Dharamshala, tea plantation, martyrs memorial and Dharamshala cricket stadium. During the sightseeing visit participants met with Buddhist monks and some local cricketers. They enjoyed a lot. The exposure visit concluded with the participants returning to Jagori office and relaxing near the river flowing nearby.
