International Women’s Day was celebrated at Disha Training Centre on 10 March 2023. The event was celebrated with a delay of two days as Holi festival fell on the usual date 8 March. Hundreds of women participated in the programme. They raised slogans and presented songs. The function was jointly chaired by the organisation’s women workers including Suresho, Kaushal, Tejwati, Puja, Phoolkali, Mamta, Sunita, Salme, Sangita, Hemlata, Usha, Varsha, Memta, Rakhi, Mewa, Shia, etc.
Disha Director KN Tiwari extended good wishes to all the women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. He gave history of the day to the women present on the occasion. He paid homage to the country’s first teacher Savitri Bai Puhle on her death anniversary and said that contribution of Savitri Bai Puhle and Fatima Shekh could not be forgotten for women’s education.
Senior coordinator Jahnavi Tiwari exhorted women to come forward for their rights. Another coordinator Shahi Parveen motivated women and talked about creating awareness among them on education and health.
The theme of International Women’s Day 2023 was ‘Each for Equity’. “Women must unite and come forward for their rights,” said the speakers.
