A speech and painting competition on prevention of violence against women was organised by Disha Social Organisation on 23 November 2022 at Nav Janodaya Inter College, Sultanpur. The idea behind organising the competition was to create a citizenry sensitive to gender issues.
Thirty students took part in art competition and 10 in speech competition. Iram of class 10 came first in painting competition, while Mantasha of class 8 was second and Nancy of class 10 was third. In speech competition, Ayan of class 12, Misbah of class 12 and Mantasha of class 10 came first, second and third.
Disha director KN Tiwari said a beginning has to be made by us from ourselves and our family to prevent violence against women. The college principal Shyam Kumar Saini highlighted efforts of Disha for rights of women, leading to considerable social change.
Senior functionaries of the organisation expressed views on different aspects of gender issues. A street play titled nasha ek zahar (intoxication a poison) on violence against women and freedom from intoxication was staged.
Certificates and mementos were given to the participating students.
