A workshop on prevention of violence against women was organised by Disha Social Organisation at Chilkana police station on 21 November 2022. Nearly 30 police personnel, officers and social workers participated in the workshop.

Disha director KN Tiwari briefed the participants of the objectives of the workshop. He gave an overview of the organisation’s work in in tackling violence against women. He said that the organisation was continuously making efforts to ensure justice to women victims of violence. A nari adalat (women’s court) was held on 10th of every month to solve the violence cases.

The assistant sub-inspector of Chilkana police station Ravindra Singh acknowledged Disha’s work among women. He noted that there were many laws for women, but women lacked awareness about such laws. He reiterated that the police and organisations should work in tandem for ensuring justice to women.

Constables Sonia Yadav and Shubham Sharma also put forth their view on the topic and gave information about helpline numbers related to women.

The workshop was possible with the active participation of several police personnel and organisation’s workers.
