On 29 September 2025, Disha Social Organisation held an awareness camp on gender equality and violence against women in Sultanpur Datauli village.
The event drew hundreds of participants and began with inspiring songs and slogans calling for women’s rights. Community leaders, including former Gram Pradhan Indraj and current village head Saini ji, joined anganwadi workers, teachers, ward members and women’s groups. They urged the community to stop violence against women and support Disha’s 42-year-long mission of empowering the poor and marginalised.
Speakers shared information on women’s legal rights, helpline services and Nari Adalat, a women’s court held monthly at the Disha campus and in local villages. Coordinator Tasneem explained key protections under domestic violence laws, while Project Coordinator Babita Verma highlighted that the campaign spans 125 villages across Saharanpur district.
The highlight of the programme was a street play titled “We Can – Mumkin Hai Abhiyaan”, performed by community members to spread awareness through powerful storytelling.
The camp ended with a strong message: together we can stop violence, protect rights, and build a future of equality.
