An inter-centre exposure visit of adolescent girls studying in Adolescent Muslim Girls’ Education Centre was organised at the Taharpur Centre was organised. Nearly 200 girls and their parents from four neighbouring centres Salempur, Khushalpur, Kasampur and Lodhipur participated. The programme was chaired by the gram pradhan Alka.
The participating girls presented songs, ghazals, plays and dance. Major role was played by Chandani, Jainab, Nazia, Aliya, Ilma, Sana, Saniya, Arshi and Payal. The space for the event was provided by a village resident Aslam Ansari.
Disha Director KN Tiwari motivated the girls to move ahead in life by getting education. He said that the organisation was making continued efforts for the last 30 years for education of girls. He exhorted all sections of the society to come forward for women’s education.
Disha is running education centres for adolescent Muslim girls in 15 villages of the working area. Nearly 30 adolescent girls are enrolled in each centre. Curriculum till standard 5 is covered in three years in these centres. After this the girls are motivated to enrol for further studies.
