A workshop of adolescent girls was organised at the Training Centre on 7 January 2023 under the auspices of Milaan Foundation and Uttar Pradesh Coalition of Empowered Girls. Nearly 70 girls participated in the event.

The tone of the workshop was set in by woman worker Rekha Sharma, who apprised the girls about the objectives and works of UPCEG. She told the girls that UPCEG was a state level group of organisations working on different issues of adolescent girls and worked for the overall development of adolescent girls.

Senior woman worker of the organisation Jahnavi Tiwari extended good wishes to the adolescent girls present and told them to move ahead in their lives by associating themselves with it. She motivated the girls to get educated and move ahead.  

Vanika Gupta of One Stop Centre, Saharanpur, gave information about the centre. She said that they called both the parties to the centre for settlement. All the facilities were made available to the victim at one place, including lodging for up to five days.

Ravita Maithani from the same centre gave information about Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which was available to the families having an income less than ₹3 lakh per year. Under this scheme, if someone’s father died there was provision of pension for her mother as well.

Shahin Parveen gave information to the adolescent girls on gender discrimination and violence against women.
