A women’s workshop on violence against women was organised at the Training Centre on 1 December 2022 to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women observed on 25 November every year.

Addressing the participants, Disha Director KN Tiwari stressed on the need of empowering women for stopping all kinds of violence against women. The senior coordinator Jahnavi Tiwari said the organisation was working actively on women issues right from beginning because of which women were moving ahead in their lives.

Sarita Tomar, constable at Chilkana police station, encouraged the participants and told them that there was a women’s desk in each police station for helping women. Her colleague constable Soni Yadav assured all possible help to the participants. She gave helpline number to the participants so they could get help in time. Constable Sheetal made the participants aware of a few legal rights.

Sarita from One Stop Centre, Saharanpur, shared information about the facility which provided legal, medical, police and very short stay facilities. If more stay facility is required, support from shelter home is taken. Kanika Gupta shared the information on women welfare schemes of the government.
